I'm all for airport security. As far as I'm concerned, the more the better. But when you are trying to plan a surprise proposal during a Caribbean get-away, that same airport security can blow your surprise. Check out this article from USA Today:
Aaron Tkachuk of British Columbia had planned to propose to his girlfriend on a romantic Caribbean getaway, but he had to scramble for an alternate plan after airport security in Prince George, British Columbia, forced his hand. Tkachuk had hidden his boxed engagement ring in the toe of a sock that he had packed in his carry-on luggage. That package caught the attention of airport screeners, who began to pull out the item for closer inspection, according to the Prince George Citizen. "Tkachuk had to make a quick decision," The Canadian Press writes, adding that "he proposed to (his girlfriend) on the spot as fellow travelers and security staff looked on and applauded" as his she said yes.
