Proposing marriage during Leap Year

OK, February 29th has come and gone and...well some of the ladies in the audience might have just missed the perfect opportunity to take ring in hand and get on bended knee.

An article I just read explained that every four years, February 29 appears on the calendar and is traditionally the day when women can propose marriage. This custom dates from fifth-century Ireland, when the rules of courtship were stricter. Since many women were waiting too long for proposals, St. Patrick is said to have granted this dispensation to them to speed up the process. And this quaint custom comes into effect again in...well, 2012. Ah, well, even if February 29th has come and gone, check out some of the great proposal places listed in the article - some of them are obvious and will come as no surprise, but Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming and the picturesque 80-foot-tall Wailua Falls, on Kauai, in the Hawaii Islands are good, specific examples that offer a broad range of locales depending on the kind of place you and your honey enjoy visiting.
